In IBM’s effort to continue to streamline and simplify navigation for our customers, this Ideas portal will be shut down on February 28, 2023. We would ask that you use the main IBM Ideas portal at or the IBM Security-specific portal at to review, vote for existing ideas, or add new ideas.

Ability to see and manage locked accounts from failed logins

If we enable failed login count and lock out time (aka lock account for 30 min after three failed logins) there is no method to:
1) Find such a user, aka filter for it
2) For a specific user see if that is the case
3) Unlock the account

This is very confusing for a help desk person that is trying to troubleshoot a failed login. This is very problematic if a customer has branded the login pages or integrated with their onw portal flows and not display appropriate messages.
(not ideal but does happen)

Resetting the password to enable a user is not always an option specifically if the password is managed by another tool such as ISIM.

    With the latest changes to the login behavior, we now no longer display a message, the user just gets the generic (wrong user name password).

    Ideally there should be an audit event for locking of the user account.
